Cleaning up the Great Lakes?
The great lakes have been a dumping ground for both industrial and municipal pollutants for hundreds of years. With adequate treatment, water from the Great Lakes still remains safe for human consumption.
What are two reasons that companies should dump their waste into the lakes (ex;volume of water will just dilute it, cost of proper treatment is too high) and two counterpoints to each reason (ex;it cans still cause serious effects, money is nothing compared to someone’s health)
Do not use the examples. Thanks a bunch!

Actually, there are laws in place that prevent companies from dumping waste into the Great Lakes or any other water way in the United States. Yes, the Great Lakes still have pollution including polluted sediment but the United States is doing it’s best to clean up the water.
What I want to know is who is still spreading false rumors about the United States being a huge polluter when the EPA keeps lowering the limits of pollutants to lower levels?
A lot of the toxins have settled out in the sediment of the lakes and the rivers in the area to the point that if the sediment is disturbed, disastrous amounts of pollutants are released. This has been a problem whenever a city such as Chicago has to consider dredging their waterways. It would be very difficult to clean up the Great Lakes now as anything you do will cause more pollutants to be released from the sediment.
I don’t think you’ll find anyone that will argue in favor of dumping pollution into the Great Lakes. Why ruin a natural resource so some company can save a few bucks over proper disposal?
