Industrial piercing with long term complications.?

So the problem is my fault.
About three years ago I got a bar industrial piercing and at the time I was really lazy. I also have really long hair that can be a pain to manage at times so I wouldn’t pull it back. So, within the first month it got swollen and sore on one of the holes. It got this kind of lump on it that’s sore and all that.
Well, I went back to my piercer and she told me to keep a sea salt in paste form on it until it went away, and she also sliced it open a bit. I did that for a while, and being a complete idiot again stopped but every once in a while I’d use sea salt treatment on it. I wash it with warm water every time I shower, and it’s not unbearable, but it’s defiantly not healed. The lump is still there and it’s mildly sore with excess fluids and all that.

Here’s a picture of my ear: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a133/seraphSIN/11-23-08_0453.jpg

So, I wanted to know what’s the best thing I can do to make this all better and healed? Is it safe to remove it and clean out the hole? (It’s also the same bar that was put in when I got it.)

gross. that’s what you get. you need to see a dermatologist and get it fixed, chances are you have an infection that will require antibiotics and you may also need to get some minor outpatient surgery (ie to sew it shut, remove the puss)

when i got my cartilage done, the same thing happened, it happened with my nose too. It went away after awhile, what i would do is clean it daily, i would say its ok to take it out to clean the whole, also clean the bar too to help get rid of any germs. but yeah, i’d say clean it more than you do now, its ok to take it out, but put it back in because obviously its not completely healed if your having problems. But wash it, maybe change the bar, who knows it may ba a problem, but it should go away if you clean it like that.

i had one of those. but mine went away really quick. i use h2ocean. i acutally took mine out and pushed it so all the puss kind of…came out. its sounds really nasty and i probably shouldn’t have done it. i’d go back to your piercer.
