How much pressure (PSI) is there in my pipes?
Hi, I have an above ground swimming pool, 24 x 12 ft in size, 4ft 4ins deep (1.3m) and a series of pipes / plumbing that are below this level, just above ground level – i.e. about 1.2m below the surface of the water. There is 8,403 gallons (31,805 L) of water in the pool.
I have a leak – just a steady drip. When I turn on the filter pump to start circulating the water, this turns into a spray.
The pump will push water round at 6000 litres per hour.
The pipes are about 40mm in diameter and there is about 7m of plumbing from leaving the pool to getting to the pump, then another 50cm of so to the leak.
Based on this information, is it possible to say what the pressure of the water is on the pipes?
The reason I’m asking is because the basic repair tape I’ve used is not working at all. However, I’ve seen an industrial solution (http://www.piperepair.com.au/pipe.repair.bandage.specifications.htm) that can withstand 360 psi.
Any ideas??
Thanks
Ross
Thanks for the answers so far…
Unfortunately I can’t cut out sections of pipe and repair… this particular leak is actually on the thread of the heat pump. Perhaps I could take the whole unit back but this would be considerable effort, plus another small leak is on piping I’ve had to modify myself due to different manufactrurers using different fittings. There is no ‘proper way’ to fix this.
Unfortunately there are no pool stores near me either – they all seem to be in the south of England. There’s one place about an hour from me but think they only do a few pool chemicals, don’t think they can help with plumbing… and they’d have to come and see my config to make anything up… would cost a fortune. Might be my only option if tape doesn’t work…
Think I’m going to go with Aquafix Wrap Repair from http://www.trickettmarineproducts.co.uk/repair.htm for now (290PSI) and will cross my fingers.
Thanks everyone…

an industrial activated charcoal filter
Please name any and all sources. Thank you so much.
