Industrial piercing with long term complications.?

So the problem is my fault.
About three years ago I got a bar industrial piercing and at the time I was really lazy. I also have really long hair that can be a pain to manage at times so I wouldn’t pull it back. So, within the first month it got swollen and sore on one of the holes. It got this kind of lump on it that’s sore and all that.
Well, I went back to my piercer and she told me to keep a sea salt in paste form on it until it went away, and she also sliced it open a bit. I did that for a while, and being a complete idiot again stopped but every once in a while I’d use sea salt treatment on it. I wash it with warm water every time I shower, and it’s not unbearable, but it’s defiantly not healed. The lump is still there and it’s mildly sore with excess fluids and all that.

Here’s a picture of my ear: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a133/seraphSIN/11-23-08_0453.jpg

So, I wanted to know what’s the best thing I can do to make this all better and healed? Is it safe to remove it and clean out the hole? (It’s also the same bar that was put in when I got it.)

Industrial Piercing Red/Swollen 8 weeks?

After soaking my ear in hot sea salt water last week, the pain on my industrial piercing went away. Over the weekend, it started really crusting. I put vitamin E as suggested by one of the posters and the next morning my ear was hurting more and is swollen on both sides of the barbell. I took out the barbell to clean it really good and it looks as if the skin is coming out of the holes. I did a sea salt soak last night and applied some antibiotic ointment to it. Today it is still really swollen. Not as painful as yesterday but sore. Suggestions? Is it time for the doctor? I have pictures if needed, email me svlbetty@yahoo.com.

Industrial Piercing Pain 7 Weeks Later?

I got my industrial piercing done 7 weeks ago. I had no pain when I got it done and was able to sleep on it the second night. In the 4th week it started to itch and I got crusties. I cleaned them with alcohol (which now I read is a no-no). Now I have bleeding (when I move the barbell) and slight pain. The area is not red or swolen so I am wondering why it is now crusting blood and hurting.

Additional Details
I forgot to mention that when I go to sleep I have my ears elevated with my hand so my ear doesn’t touch the pillow but when I wake up I am in pain because I am sleeping on it! Could this be the cause as well? I am going to try the salt water cottons. Thanks everyone.

UPDATE: I did the sea salt soak last night (literally sat my ear in a cup of hot wter with the sea salt) and I haven’t had any pain since. I plan on continuing this treatment.
